Tzu-Chi [慈濟] Thailand Free Clini

I volunteered at the Tzu Chi Thailand Medical Outreach Center, assisting medical teams in serving refugees and other vulnerable populations. My primary responsibility was translating medical terminology and medication instructions. Drawing on my background in biology and chemistry—both from school and extracurricular learning—I accurately explained medication components and usage instructions to patients, ensuring they understood medical advice and used their prescriptions safely.

I also participated in psychological support by listening to refugees share traumatic experiences of separation caused by war, offering emotional comfort and helping them rebuild trust and a sense of security. In addition, I assisted with basic health checks such as measuring blood pressure, body temperature, and recording medical histories to help doctors assess patients more efficiently. Through this experience, I deeply realized that healthcare is not only about treating the body, but also about mental well-being, humanity, and compassion. Serving as a bridge between refugees and medical professionals—providing timely, accurate, and empathetic care—was my greatest source of growth.
