Tzu-Chi [慈濟] Thailand Aeroponic Tower Farm/Horticultural therapy

I proposed, designed, and led the Tzu Chi Thailand Aeroponic Tower Farm and Horticultural Therapy Project, integrating aeroponic farming technology with principles of horticultural therapy to help refugees improve food access while also supporting their mental well-being. Within the team, I was responsible for designing and managing the seedling and germination stages, monitoring germination rates, root health, humidity, and light conditions to ensure successful transplantation and sustained growth in the aeroponic towers.
I developed a replicable seedling cultivation process and instructional manual, and trained refugee workers to independently grow seedlings and prepare nutrient solutions. This not only reduced operational costs but also emphasized the importance of self-reliance. At the same time, I incorporated horticultural therapy into the seedling process, guiding participants—especially refugees—to observe seed germination and plant growth. Through caring for plants, they were able to relieve stress and rediscover hope in life. The core goal of this project is to allow refugees to acquire practical skills while experiencing the sense of achievement that comes “from cultivation to harvest,” ultimately addressing food insecurity.

  • Developed Tzu-Chi Thailand’s Aeroponic Tower Farm with over 150,000 NTD funding
  • Integrated vertical farming and horticultural therapy to support refugee food security and mental well-being.
  • Reported to the Founder of Tzu-Chi [證嚴法師]
