Scientific Illustrator & Botanical Artist (Botanical Art Association, Taiwan)
The Botanical Art Worldwide (BAW) exhibition marked the second global exhibition since 2018 and the first time the Taiwan Botanical Art Association represented Taiwan internationally. The theme was “Local Heritage Crops,” with participation from 23 countries. Taiwan’s exhibition focused on Hakka Heritage Crops, aiming to introduce native Taiwanese plants to the world through botanical art.
Supported by the Taiwan Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency and the Ting Hsin International Group Foundation, exhibitions were held at Taipei Botanical Garden (June) and Changhua Cheng Mei Cultural Park (May). Since October 2024, I volunteered in exhibition preparation, assisting with planning, artist coordination, venue negotiation, and exhibition setup. I also exhibited my own artwork. Additionally, I proactively served as an international guest liaison and bilingual translator, facilitating cultural exchange among artists from Canada, Italy, Thailand, and Singapore.
Botanical Art Worldwide (BAW) Taiwan, 2025
The theme of the Botanical Art Worldwide 2025 (BAW 2025) global botanical art exhibition is “Biodiversity in Crops.” Through the artistic presentation of botanical science, the exhibition aims to remind people that the diversity of traditional crops is the key to a sustainable future.
As one of the global exhibition venues, Taiwan has uniquely chosen the theme “Hakka Heritage Crops” to reflect local characteristics. The exhibition will guide visitors through the crops commonly used in Hakka culture and explore their various forms from an artistic perspective. This approach highlights the close relationship between traditional crops and daily life in modern Taiwanese society, as well as the botanical wisdom nurtured by this land.
I worked with The Taiwan Association of Botanical Artists (TABA) spent two years curating this exhibition on behalf of Taiwan. They propose the narrative: “Amid the challenges of climate change, habitat loss, and diseases, the genetic wealth contained in diverse traditional crops holds the key to the future.”
